Yesterday, I went to my doctor for a follow up appointment. He told me I had high cholesterol and that I need to cut back on my cheese, egg yolks, fried foods, and fast food intake. He also asked that I do some cardio workouts at last three times a week. This is something that I have gone through before, having high cholesterol. Honestly, I don’t mind giving up any of those items because I am looking to lose weight and many of those foods are not effective to helping me reach that goal by any means. What I was kind of excited about was the order to exercise via cardio at least three times a week.
Having been a runner for approximately two years and then going cold turkey one year, I miss it! I miss how I would feel after a run. The clarity it would give me was amazing. Running helped me lose weight before when I was eating healthier. It also helped me feel more energized when I was eating properly. Today, I had my first run of 2019 and although it was freezing cold outside, I felt extremely alive. I ran 1 mile in my neighborhood with my iPod playing a variety of music that gave me good energy. I am glad to have a bigger reason to run more now. I now want to get my body ready and trained for a 5k, then a 10k, an a half marathon all over again.
